Most tables under $1,000 are built with a veneer top — a thin printed laminate layer glued over particleboard. It looks fine in the store and starts peeling and chipping within a year or two of real use.
Thicker Than It Looks
Most cafe table bases you'll find online are thin, hollow steel tubing — light enough to bend under real use. Ours is predominantly stainless steel, at a heavier gauge, engineered specifically to carry the weight of a solid stone top without bowing, wobbling or rusting through years of service.
A Sealing Solution, Built In
